African regional and international leaders are attending the inauguration ceremony of the mountain kingdom’s Prime Minister-elect, Tom Thabane, on Friday, reports SABC.

Thabane inauguration follows the recent general elections in the Southern African country, three years early after the parliament removed the Prime Minister from office with a vote of no confidence.

The newly elected Prime Minister was recently devastated by the loss of his wife who was shot dead outside her home. There are fears that the assassination could lead to renewed turmoil in the kingdom, however, Lesotho police are investigating an incident in which Thabane’s wife was shot dead on Wednesday night.

The 78-year-old reformist agenda has made him popular with the donor community on which Lesotho is heavily reliant according to MG.
