Christiano Ronaldo has been named the most famous on earth by a study by ESPN sports broadcaster. Footballers have dominated the World Fame 100, with the sport claiming 38 of the positions available.
LeBron James came in second on the ‘ESPN World Fame 100’ list for the second year running and Lionel Messi ranked third in the chart.
According to ESPN director of analytics Ben Alamar the specially-created algorithm that creates the rankings considers earnings, social media influence and Google search popularity among other things.
Tennis ace Roger Federer, veteran golfer Phil Mickelson, Brazilian football icon Neymar, world-record sprinter Usain Bolt, another NBA star in the shape of Kevin Durant and multiple Grand Slam champion Rafa Nadal and popular golfer Tiger Woods are in the top ten of the 100 list of sports men and women.
