Did you know that the Hurricane devastating the west begins from the mountains of East Africa? As the winds sweep over the mountains in east Africa, area of low pressure forms and then travels across the sahara desert.

After which it moves over the warm atlantic (over Senegal/Gambia and mauritania region). Once there, they form thunderstorm over broad region. As it comes under the influence of earth’s rotation called the Coriolis force, it begins to spin.

As the storm intensifies, the pressure in it’s center begins to drop, forming whats known as the eye. It then acts like a vacuum, causing winds on the sea surface to spiral inward towards it. The spiraling wind then evaporates moisture from the warm ocean surface.

As they near the eye, they move upwards producing cloud and rain. This is why hurricanes get stronger in warm waters as well. Just thought I share since there is a connection to Africa. Though we do not suffer from Hurricanes in Africa, we ignite it.
