Nigerian Soccer Star Ighalo is England's 2015 Top Scorer

London club, Arsenal, have finally seized the moment as they moved to top spot in the English Premier League after securing a 2-0 win over AFC Bournemouth on Monday.

Before tonight, the Gunners put up a shambolic display in their last outing away to Southampton and were thrashed 4-0 but Arsene Wenger’s men got the job done at the Emirates on Monday night.

Aside the win, Arsenal keeper, Petr Cech, set a new Premier League record for clean sheets during the 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

Mesut Ozil assisted one goal and scored the second to lead the Gunners to a comfortable win, although Bournemouth certainly showed their quality in the first half.

The chances of Arsenal keeping the top spot for the week will depend on the outstanding game between Manchester City and Leicester.

While Arsenal enjoys a lot of support in Nigeria, for many, the high point of the day was seeing Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo, increase his goals tally to 14 as he scored the only goal for Watford in their 1-2 home loss to Tottenham Hotspurs.

With his latest effort, Ighalo has now scored in six consecutive games, more interestingly, Ighalo has now scored 30 times in the calendar year and that makes him the highest goal scorer in England’s top four Leagues.

Elsewhere, Nigeria international Victor Anichebe was handed his first start of this season in West Brom’s hard-earned 1-0 win over Newcastle United. The striker was replaced two minutes from time.

At the Goodison Park where Stoke City beat Everton 4-3 in a seven-goal thriller, Nigerian striker Peter Odemwingie was not included in the Potters squad yet again.

At Old Trafford, Nigeria midfielder John Obi Mikel was handed a starter’s shirt but his inclusion counts for less as Manchester United and Chelsea ended their tie in a barren draw.
