South Sudan former vice President urges opposition ministers to boycott cabinet meetings

South Sudan’s former President and prominent opposition leader Riek Mchar has directed all his opposition ministers in the unity government to boycott cabinet meetings until the on-going row is contained reports Radio Tamazuj.






All ministers nominated by the armed opposition party faction should adhere to the leader’s directive according to the opposition party SPLM-IO deputy head of Information and Public relations Manawa Peter Gatkuoth. He further, said that the SPLM-IO ministers still attending the cabinet meetings in Juba were supporting the newly appointed Vice President Taban Deng Gai who was recently appointed by President Salva Kiir following a spark of violence in the country.Machar has called the appointment of Taban Deng Gai by President Salva Kiir as “illegal” and claims to still be the vice President of South Sudan.“On Tuesday, the UN warned President Kiir that any political appointments must be consistent with last August’s peace deal that ended nearly two years of civil war – under the agreement, the vice president must be chosen by the armed opposition faction.” Said the report by Radio Tamazuj
